Site to a Blog

I am switching my site to a blog. The pros: site is hard to maintain, blog can stay fresh, ability to add things on the fly, ability to slot things in multiple categories, tag stuff, search content, easy to switch style sheet. The negative is that I cannot really customize things the way I really want. I want to put an interesting header on top. A best of image navigation scheme. The customization could happen as I figure tricks to do. The question is, can I make this my personal little space?
